A Major Milestone for Immigration Services in Lombok Timur
The government has officially upgraded the immigration facility in Selong, East Lombok into a Class II Immigration Office (Non-TPI), marking a significant milestone in improving public services and supporting regional development.Previously operating only as a Unit Layanan Paspor (ULP) with limited services, the new Class II office now provides full immigration services, including support for foreigners.
Now Fully Operational with Passport Issuance
The office officially began operations on 24 February 2026, marked by the issuance of the first passport to the Regent of East Lombok. This milestone reflects the transition into a fully functional immigration office serving both:
- Indonesian citizens (WNI)
- Foreign nationals (WNA)
The presence of this office allows residents of East Lombok to access immigration services more efficiently without traveling long distances.
Foreigners Can Now Process Immigration in Lombok Timur
One of the most important upgrades is the introduction of a dedicated foreigner service section, which was not available before.
Services now include:
- Visa processing support
- ITAS / ITAP (stay permits)
- Stay permit extensions
- Foreigner supervision & compliance
The office now directly serves:
- Lombok Timur (East Lombok)
- Lombok Utara (North Lombok)
This significantly reduces dependency on other immigration offices and improves overall service efficiency for both locals and foreigners.
Immigration Office in Mataram and Its Coverage Area
The Mataram office continues to operate as the main immigration authority in West Nusa Tenggara, with coverage including:
- Mataram City
- Lombok Barat (West Lombok)
- Lombok Tengah (Central Lombok)
- Parts of surrounding regions depending on administrative needs
As a Class I TPI (Tempat Pemeriksaan Imigrasi) office, Mataram handles:
- International immigration control (airport/port authority)
- Visa and stay permits for foreigners
- Passport issuance
- Enforcement and supervision
With the upgrade in Selong, responsibilities are now more distributed, allowing:
- Mataram to focus on high-volume and international traffic
- Selong to handle regional and local immigration services for East and North Lombok
Supporting Tourism & Investment Growth
The establishment of this Class II Immigration Office is expected to significantly boost:
- Tourism development
- Foreign investment
- Ease of doing business for expatriates
With more foreigners staying, investing, and working in Lombok, having a local immigration office with full authority is a crucial step forward.
This upgrade reflects the government’s commitment to providing accessible, efficient, and modern immigration services across the island.
The transformation of Selong’s immigration office into a Class II Immigration Office with foreigner services is a major step forward for Lombok.
By decentralizing immigration services, the government has made it easier, faster, and more efficient for both Indonesian citizens and foreigners to access essential immigration processes.
